Cheese Pockets

Cheese Pockets?

We used to get them for breakfast every Sunday morning at Baker Street Bakery on Park Avenue. They are addictive with their lemony creamy cheese filling. Sugary crystals pop and melt in your mouth as you bite into the rich, flaky dough.

We would walk to Spin Cafe (mysteriously closed) and get big cups of watery, slightly burnt coffee. The coffee was terrible, but we did it just to experience prancing out of the bakery onto a bustling, sunny street and straight into the nearest cafe.

Those were romantic days and times certainly change. These days those sweet pastries cause quite a stir in the stomach region and it's quite impossible to get a cup of coffee at Spin. In our hearts the cheese pocket holds a very special place, though we no longer engage this peculiar luxury.

These sweet beginnings pushed us to become connoisseurs of the coffee shop, and we have since established ourselves as regulars elsewhere around our fair city.

Perhaps we'll tell you where someday.
